Students need to be active learners about the world around them. The Scholastic MATH Magazines do just that. Students will learn about the world outside our four walls and will also see how there are mathematical connections to almost everything in our world. My students are actively engaged with learning math skills in my classroom. They are able to easily apply those skills to word problems and other problem-solving activities we have in class. However, my students still do not always see the real-word connections that math has in their lives beyond the classroom. This is something I aim to fix in the coming school year. In addition to seeing those real-world connections, the bi-weekly magazines will boost literacy skills in a very fun and engaging way. These magazines are a very well-rounded tool as they also include subscriptions to online material.
