My school is in the heart of a neighborhood where many of the houses are boarded up and many of the schools, have been closed down. I have not met all of the students at my new school yet, but I did get the opportunity to meet four 4th grade students while visiting the school for my initial interview. I was a bundle of nerves, waiting to teach my sample lesson. I entered the classroom and struck up a conversation. They immediately began to question me, and after what seems like 30 questions in a span of 10 minutes. I got the approval of them all and they began to tell me everything under the moon about them, their passions, their favorite books, center in the classroom, and how they hope I teach them next year. It was an amazing experience and an awesome way to be welcomed into what is now my new teaching home. I want to make sure my students have everything they need to be successful this next school year.
