This year my goal is to provide students with more opportunities to work away from their desks. I specifically chose materials in this project to target special reading and writing needs of my students. This project would allow for my class to grow as learners and feel more independent within our room. For example, the rolling dry erase board would allow for me to review my whole group lesson in small groups. I have found that reteaching a lesson with children in smaller groups has a a great impact on retention. The small teepee tent will help me create a reading space in my classroom that students will want to go to to read quietly on their own. Students are highly motivated by special, cozy places they can go to as an incentive. The dry erase sleeves will help students easily practice skills at stations without the fear of making mistakes. During independent writing time, I find that the majority of my students are more engaged when they are not writing at their desks. Incorporating a different table to work at will provide my students with flexible seating options during this time. The other items are classroom supplies that will be used daily to help our class run and function smoothly!
