My classroom is going paperless and the need for traditional desk arrangements is waning. Observing non-traditional layouts in secondary settings has taught me even older students benefit from seating choice and increased physical comfort. A battery of comfort chairs will join donated furniture to achieve my goals. Innovative classroom layout and seating will facilitate collaborative learning centers and promote greater student engagement. This classroom arrangement will help align a curriculum built around choice to the "centers" you might find in elementary education. Research suggests greater student engagement and learning will result. Technology-based instruction is enhanced by greater student comfort and choice.
