The addition of this tubano will allow students to experience rhythm on a non-pitched percussion instrument. It is important that students experience melody and rhythm on a variety of pitched and non-pitched instruments. Students regularly rotate through instrument stations. The incorporation this tubano encourages students to explore new sounds and rhythms during music class. An Orff centered music education emphasises learning music through experience. We have one tubano but it only allows for only a few students in each class to play on it each day. Drumming on a tubano will allow for students to experience music in a new and creative way and may bring to light certain strengths a student may have.
