"The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon," "Twisted," and "Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes" have high-interest topics, different types of narrators, and cover different genres. We plan on using these high-interest novels, that focus on adolescents that face adversity and use it to learn about themselves and the world around them in a Book Club type of unit. During this unit students will be given assignments and expectations by the teacher, in groups they will decide on a reading schedule, due dates, and a final project focus. We want to give the students the joy of reading by helping them find the "right books". In order to do this, we need access to these books.
