Our classroom serves students with varying degrees of Intellectual (dis)Abilities. In Room 852, we are a Community-Based Instruction class that provides students with learning opportunities in and out of the school setting. My kiddos have "on the job" opportunities to develop skills; and, go into the community to experience real-world connections shopping, making self-selected purchases. We practice these skills in the classroom using the UNIQUE Learning System which is the curriculum that guides us in our CBI. Students in this class are a mix of 9th-12th grade students from 15 to 19 years old. These students can graduate with a Certificate of Completion or a Career Diploma, which allows them to join the workforce. For the 2017-2018 school year, two students graduated with Career Diplomas! Both will be entering the workforce.
