My project consists of two parts: a replenishment of my snack closet for hungry students, and some furniture to help with a new flexible seating arrangement. Many of our students come to school hungry, don't eat breakfast because they were running late, or perhaps don't have access to food outside of school. I want to provide for those students who just need a little on their stomach to make their brain work better. The snacks will help replenish my snack closet, which was depleted over the course of this past school year, and is available to any student who needs it. Contrary to popular belief, high-schoolers still fidget! When we recognize that education is not one-size-fits-all, we can accommodate each student's needs and meet them in their optional learning zone. Some students learn better standing, some need to doodle, and some need to just be able to move around, more than the current desk situation in my classroom allows for.
