The students in my classroom come from a wide variety of home lives. Some are from traditional two parent homes, but the majority are not. I have the honor of teaching students who are learning at many different levels, using many different learning styles. It has been my experience that all of my students learn from literature, whether by listening as I read to them, or by reading themselves. Our school is made up primarily of students who receive free and/or reduced lunches. The parents of these students often do not have the means necessary to provide their children with opportunities to read at home, making it even more important that I give them that experience in the classroom.
