I recently was able to purchase a fantastic literacy curriculum that features engaging themed lessons that span across the school year. Our current curriculum lacks books and materials that can grasp the students' interests and get them excited about learning. When I came across this curriculum, I could not believe how great it was and jumped on the opportunity to get it into my classroom. These literacy lessons use high-quality fiction and nonfiction books to teach literacy skills, but also incorporate science and social studies concepts. The themed books cover topics such as social skills, animal life, holidays around the world, diversity, and weather to name a few. Teaching through these various themes will allow me to reach the diverse group of learners that I have in my classroom. The only thing that I am missing now is the books to go with the literacy units. If I can get these books, I will be all set to begin the fantastic curriculum in my classroom this year, and for years to come. Having access to these books will not only help me teach my students in a way that will help them reach their academic goals, but will give them access to knowledge that will prepare them for their future in the real world.
