Pre-K students are naturally curious about the environment around them. Problem-solving for them can include the marble and tunnels toy to allow students to create structures which either block, or, allow marbles to flow through a building structure based on the laws of gravity. Students can learn how to re-structure the building to make the marbles come down in a different way. Wikki Stix allow students to make shapes, letters, and pictures using flexible, reusable, wires which help develop fine motor skills, as well. The durable, wooden puzzle blocks help students problem-solve by matching pictures with letters of beginning sounds, and the blocks are self-correcting. Magna Tiles are really fun shapes with magnets on the edges. This allows students to engineer and create any 3-D building imaginable. All of this learning is work, but the students are having fun through intentional play.
