Students need rich literature in their hands and be able to read it over and over to discuss with other students what his or her take away or big idea was. No matter how old, students need to be read to. Research has shown that reading aloud to students will improve student's comprehension and make real life connections. Follow up conversation after a read aloud is one of the most powerful opportunities that teachers have to motivate a love for the exciting world of literacy. Students are learning and they do not even know it. These books are all on different reading levels with a variety of topics to better reach all of my students.
