My project is to introduce the students to new experiences through reading. One way to do that is to give the students 20 minutes of daily reading on a book of their own choosing. They will read for "fun" instead of for grades. I want them to be able to read books, novels, and magazines about other teens (fiction or nonfiction) who are going through some of the issues that they may face. The key to this project is to encourage the students to read for pleasure instead of being told to read for instructional purposes. With that being said, WE NEED BOOKS! And of course other things to make their reading experiences fun and enjoyable. For those 20 minutes a day, I want to try and help transport my students into a different world, and I need comfortable places for them to read, which is why I am asking for bean bags and other alternative seating.
