Trouble processing internal or external circumstances have the potential to adversely impact our young learners. When students need help with addressing these circumstances, providing them with alternative methods to doing so proves to be an effective way to create growth. Games and other hands-on activities are a fun and interactive way to help students self-regulate. The resources I've selected will help as I work with students individually, but will also benefit my work with students in large and small groups. Games like "Choices in a Jar," "Mad Dragon," or the "Totika Self-Esteem Game" give young learners a relevant and accessible platform to communicate their feelings, which provides a platform to discuss how we can create growth and change moving forward. Books, like the "CBT Toolbox for Children and Adolescents," "Fostering Resilient Learners," and "Ready Set R.E.L.A.X." expand my own toolkit so that I can be sure I'm providing students with the best possible help. I can also share this knowledge with school staff, to make sure we are providing consistency in how we approach our most vulnerable students. With help, my students and I can create a comfortable and caring environment in which we can all grow, learn and progress. Whatever help comes, thank you for it. You have no idea how long a ways your caring can travel.
