Imagine a "reading corner" within a classroom that has a cozy rug, comfy seating, and has shelves of books nearby. Now imagine students who are excited to learn because they have an enticing and comfortable place dive into a new book. That image is what I hope to bring to life for my students this school year and for many years to come. I believe that my students will be better able to learn when they are not stuck in desks all day. They will use this space not only to read, but for many other activities throughout their day. I want to create a place where my students can escape to when feeling overwhelmed, a place where they can work and grow together during station learning, and a place where we can meet as a whole class. Having this reading rug in our classroom will help create this space for my students and in turn help them to become more excited about learning through reading.
