This is my first year back in the classroom and I need help with the basic supplies for my class. I'm excited to teach the students how to form words with different resources. One of my favorite activities is to pass out magnetic white boards and a handful of magnetic letters and have the students create an initial word with the letters given. Then I will ask the students to change the first letter of the word with another letter I give them in order for them to create another word. This is a great hands on activity for the students to understand different word families. White boards and dry erase markers are a must in the classroom for dozens of different spelling, reading, and writing lessons/activities. And we are in need of a quality pencil sharpener to keep our class stocked with pencils!
