Our class was learning about the different careers that the children could choose from when they get a little older. Some children emphasized that they were scared of going to the doctor's office and really didn't want to be a doctor. With the addition of all of these manipulatives, our hope is to show the children that doctors help people. We want them to explore the different ways that doctors help our bodies stay healthy. Our goal is to use these materials to show the children that doctors help us when we are sick and also help us to keep our bodies healthy. The children will learn about doctors by role playing, using the doctor cart and stethoscope, and by putting on a puppet show. My students will get to explore all of the doctors tools and practice using them. The children will also get to play Doc McStuffins mix up fix up game. I will read the book about Daniel Visits The Doctor first and ask how many of them are scared to go to the doctor. At the end of our doctor unit, I will finish by reading the book, Doctors Help. My students will love dressing up like doctors and learning all about them!
