With copies of the book, Touching Spirit Bear, my students will engage with quality literature that they can relate to. Students will have their own copy of the book and be able to read at their own pace, as well as, post note in the text to capture their thinking. This powerful text will be life-changing for students while enhancing the reading strategies, analysis and critical thinking skills of each student. The main character, Cole, in this story discovers ways to overcome his circumstance and positively impact the people around him. My students will easily relate to Cole and learn about themselves in the process.
