This trip to The Ecology School is a wonderful learning experience. It is not only teaching students about ecology, it is teaching them life skills. For example, how to socially interact with one another and complete day to day activities. They eat meals family style, which they are not used to. This helps them learn to communicate with others. They spend three nights away from home and no electronics are allowed. It is amazing to watch the children interact and play without using their technology they have become so attached to. They visit tide pools and get to experience Maine in a unique way. They also learn about biotic and abiotic factors, the forest, and many other ecological topics.
