In my classroom, I have about 900 Kindergarten, First and Second Graders with diverse needs who rotate into my room for 40 minutes each 6 days. My LMC (Learning Media Center) is a very large room that also has library books and Makerspace items, so that means we can have up to 3 classrooms in the same room at the same time. My purpose as their technology teacher is to expose them to technology basics with a tablet and a Chromebook, and to also introduce them to concepts of coding, circuits, apps, and more. Once I have students working independently on technology, I then engage them in a small group setting to have a mini-makerspace time that will assist teachers and students alike on how to create in Makerspace "free" time. My room is always buzzing with some kind of learning and I try to expose my students to as many new items as possible to engage them in learning for the 21st Century.
