I have the privilege of teaching 22 amazing students in our first forest kindergarten. We will have a classroom inside the building and a classroom outdoors with no walls or ceiling. Our class is the first of its kind at our school. Students will be spending half of their instructional time learning in the outdoor classroom. Nature is the teacher in the woods and students' imaginations, creativity and discoveries guide their learning. Kindergarten students are so inquisitive, creative, and diverse. Kindergarten is a whole new world for the children, and each child shines in their own unique way. Watching 4 and 5 year olds discover their abilities through nature is an amazing thing! We teach students the love of learning through the beauty that nature has to offer. We foster outdoor learning through discovery and real life application of the standards we teach inside and outside of the building.
