The requested books such as, "The Bell in the Bridge" and "The Bad Mood and the Stick" will make a big impact in my classroom. My classroom library is a popular place to be. Students love looking for new books and recommending books to each other. During our reading workshop time, students engage in interactive read alouds, independent reading, and guided reading. Interactive read alouds are the foundation of literacy instruction in my classroom. During this time students are engaging in specific strategic actions as they make meaning from the text. As they hear the text being read aloud they are analyzing, inferring, predicting, synthesizing, and critiquing. All of the books that have been selected were chosen because of the rich discussions students can have about the texts. Many of these books are written by my students’ favorite authors. Students will be able to select books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. The best way to accelerate reading ability is to practice and read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow as readers. This project will definitely help my students continue their love of reading.
