My students deserve to have access to the best hands-on learning experiences possible. I am hoping by adding additional STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) manipulatives and games to my classroom, I can increase my students’ critical and creative thinking in all areas by giving them opportunities to build problem solving skills they will need throughout their lives. I plan to use the Tangrams during our math stations and when students are fast finishers. Many of these items, such as the ten frame towers, STEM building blocks, pattern blocks, etc., will be used to keep our learning hands-on and our brains engaged. These skills will aid my first grade students as they continue on their paths to becoming productive and employable members of our society in the coming years! Together we can bring these opportunities to my small but mighty rural Indiana school!
