A flexible seating option in my classroom is going to give my students a sense of empowerment, being able to choose what type of seating will help them be the most successful. It will also allow students to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class. We live in a world of constant collaboration. As educators it is our job to not only enhance our students knowledge but teach them skills that will help them to be successful in life. An uncomfortable student, is a distracted and unproductive student. I want my students to be excited about learning when they walk into my classroom. I have chosen a variety of options for seating. Stability balls and wobble seats for students that have a hard time sitting still. A lounge chair that will be available for students to snuggle into for independent reading time. I am going to make a bookshelf/bench that will serve as book storage and a bench seat. The stools will be useful for students that prefer to sit at a higher table, which will help with posture. I will also be lowering a table if students would feel more comfortable kneeling to do their work.
