I have chosen a variety of picture books to help teach character education. I will spend each month focusing on a different character trait. These include respect, responsibility, and compassion, just to name a few. These character focuses are critical for not only student success, but also will help my students become contributing members of society. I will place special emphasis on self-control, empathy, integrity, and kindness. These are some of the skills I feel are most critical for my students' success, and are not often directly taught. By focusing on these success skills, and other important character traits, I know I will be preparing them for life outside the classroom, and setting them up for success in future endeavors.
