I am creating a book study using Coach John Wooden's "Inch and Miles: The Journey to Success." Coach Wooden taught the character traits in this book to the players on many of his championship UCLA basketball teams. This book was co-authored by Coach and helps bring these same traits to children so that they can learn how to become successful in their own lives. Social/emotional learning is so important for the kiddos in my school as many come from backgrounds of trauma and poverty. The character education that this book teaches is exciting and fun, as well as proven to work. This book club will be for second grade students, and I hope to bring the joy of reading to this book club as well as give the students at my school an extra boost of character education.
