My students need to be encouraged to read. An author visit from a reluctant reader turned writer will create interest in reading. In addition, Babb writes historical fiction with vivid characters to capture the reluctant reader's attention of life during the 1800s, centered mainly in Arkansas. It is hard for kids to relate to historical fiction - they have never known a time without technology at their fingertips! James takes them back into another era, in fun and interactive steps. Along the way, students are allowed and encouraged to ask questions about the writing process, research, publishing, or topics relating to the creation of his stories. J Students will also have the opportunity to receive a free book. Student names will be entered into a drawing and 25 students will receive their own autographed book. We live in a very rural area and students do not always have access to personally own a book.
