The leveled readers would be an essential tool for my students to be able to independently pick appropriate books based on their current reading level. They will utilize these books during their Daily 5 centers and as a means to reach their personal goal they set for themselves. Our school and county are moving towards standard based grading. With this in mind we are beginning to create common formative assessments that students can use to help monitor their growth in reading. These books will help them accomplish their personal set goals. It will also provide an organized system for them and myself.
