The Trauma Team at our elementary school is seeking funding for classroom calm-down toolkits which include a fidget toys mix pack. In it are a liquid motion timer, a slow rising squishy toy, color changing therapy putty, a stretchy noodle, and water beads all of which help soothe heightened emotions. When our students are overwhelmed it can be difficult to regulate their emotions. The items in this toolkit will provide an opportunity for students to self-regulate in a positive way without distracting others. The kit also provides a means of concentration​, focus, and offer stress relief and reduce anxiety. As teachers, we believe all students have the right to learn and grow in a safe and nurturing environment. This kit will allow students to re-focus and self-regulate in order to effectively participate in the learning environment.
