Organization is key to creating an optimal learning environment for students. My job, as their teacher, is to help mold them into successful individuals in all aspects of life. Just like reading and math, children need to be taught how to manage and care for their classroom materials. An efficient classroom environment opens the door to increased student learning and helps manage behavior. With only 180 school days a year, I want to maximize every minute of every day. Teaching my students that 'everything' has a home, will allow for quick transitions, respect for classroom materials, and teach necessary life skills. The bookshelf and storage bins will be used to organize student resources such as math manipulatives, center rotation materials, and community supplies. The colored paper trays will be used to differentiate assignments based on subject. Additionally, students' folders will be labeled to help students establish a routine when putting work into their desk.
