I teach at a school that serves mostly students of color. I love all of our differences. We are constantly learning, asking questions, and becoming better BECAUSE OF our differences. My library needs to reflect the students in my classroom. I want my students to feel at home in my class. In order to feel that way, they need to be able to see themselves in books and literature, starting at an early age. One of my key goals as an early childhood educator is to foster a love of reading. I want my students to connect to the books we read. I need books that reflect a multitude of cultures and regions. We are not all the same and that is to be celebrated!
