The use of flexible seating in the classroom allows students to have a say in their learning and creates a more collaborative and creative environment. Students are treated like adults and prepared better for the future when flexible seating is used. In traditional classrooms, students are assigned a certain seat and forced to sit there for an entire class, which for many adults can be a difficult task. Yoga ball chairs will help get the jitters out without distracting other learners in the room. With the implementation of flexible seating, students are able to choose a seat where they will do their best work and they are given the freedom to move when they feel it is necessary. This is the expectation when they become adults and enter the workforce or college. When continuing their education after high school, no one is going to tell them where to sit and how to work. The use of flexible seating now will teach students about themselves and how they work best individually and in groups. They will learn how to collaborate with others, create good study habits, and find their best learning environment. The learning environment also impacts a students' attitude. An enriching yet inviting classroom will help motivate students' attitudes when they walk into my room. Sometimes harsh lighting can greatly affect the focus and mood of a student; with the light filters, a calming mood will be set for my flexible seating spot in the room for reading and decompressing.
