My project allows students to better participate in collaborative instruction. Students can push tables together to engage in academic talk, or they can use markers to engage in silent discussions. The seating also allows students who have trouble sitting still the ability to sit in stools that allow them to move but still be engaged in discussion. Having these tables and stools helps the kids to feel important. It is really something to see them excited about having new furniture in the classroom as many of my desks are in less than perfect condition, and having the whiteboard tops makes the learning fun!
