Research shows that kids who are hungry have a hard time concentrating in class. Many of the students at this inner city school have food insecurity at home. 80% of these students are on free or reduced meals. I started to provide food for the kids in the Special Education classes (about 18% of the school), but I found that many of the general education students are in need of food as well. I want to provide hungry kids with healthy food and snacks throughout the day. I provide these snacks, without question, to any student who needs something to eat. With this food, I will have the ability to say "yes" to all the hungry kids in my school.
