As I have such a high population of kiddos that need movement in their daily learning, creating a flexible seating classroom will allow students to absorb more during their school day. These diverse seating options including wiggle seats, floor cushions and a standing table, will ensure that students feel that their needs are important and respected. With the large amount of time that students spend in my classroom, it is crucial that they are comfortable and in a position to make the most of their time in school. If students have their physical needs met with non-traditional seating options, they will be able to focus and take in more instruction. Wiggle stools and stability balls are a few of the many ways that students can get their needed movement. These seating options, especially our standing table, will also allow us to set up our classroom in a way that encourages collaborative learning. Many hands on and STEM activities will take place here. They will be able to put their brains together with their peers and learn from each other. This is the type of learning that gets students engaged and understanding at a deeper level. In addition to their academics, Flexible Seating options will instill respect and responsibility in my students. Students will learn to be respectful of the resources provided and to take care of different seating options so they can be preserved over time. I can't wait to see how positively this will impact my students. I appreciate your consideration and generosity.
