We spend a lot of time together on the carpet. We begin our day with our morning meetings where we greet each other, warm up our brains, and discuss our daily expectations. With a new appealing and stimulating carpet, my students will be more engaged and excited to spend time on the carpet. I am looking for a more functional meeting area for my students to come and enjoy. We use the carpet during whole group math. We have our math meeting where we count to one hundred together and we count in Lakota as well. We go through the calendar, days of the week, and shapes. Myself and the students than go into our new math concepts which always almost uses manipulative and we stay on the rug the entire time. The students also like to enjoy the carpet during independent reading and quiet time. I allow them to lay down and read, draw, or color on the carpet during allotted times.
