My special education students need reinforcement of their basic math and reading skills daily. For this reason, my students have independent learning stations to provide multiple opportunities to practice these skills weekly. They use QR Codes to check their work in order to encourage independence and provide motivation for reluctant learners. Amazon Kindle Fires are an effective and efficient way to check QR codes and use those codes to access additional resources. Kindles also provided students with an opportunity to become comfortable with technology unavailable to many of them at home. These Kindle Fires would be used by various students daily to read QR codes on math and ELA task cards, as well, as access additional learning resources.
