Every student who commits to going to and completing college deserves to be celebrated like a celebrity or star athlete. This is the goal of the BetterMakeRoom Campaign. At my school, we have a unique group of students who go off to community college, university, certification programs, the Military, take a gap year enter the workforce post-graduation. We want our College Signing Day event to celebrate all of our students and their plans for the future. It will give educators and families the opportunity to congratulate and encourage our seniors as they head toward their future. We will recognize all of our students and their post-secondary plans understanding that while college is encouraged, it may not be the best choice for a student at that time. We want this to be the first annual BetterMakeRoom event and give our students the chance to share their stories with one another, support each other in the future endeavors, and inspire each other to reach higher. The items I am requesting include: popcorn boxes, signs, decorations, a photo backdrop, tablecloth, markers, and post-it notes. These items will help create a movie premiere type of event for our seniors where we get to celebrate their post-secondary plans. We will transform our conference room into a movie premiere where students will write their plan on a star-shaped post-it, take photos with each other in the photo booth, and snack on popcorn.
