Flexible seating means my students will be in charge of their learning environment. These options will allow them to move or wiggle as needed while still being engaged and on task. During independent or cooperative group work, balance balls, stools, and wiggle seats will be great options for students to move around the room and have a choice in their learning. Having a couple bean bag chairs in our reading corner will entice students to want to read independently while being in a comfortable setting. I have seen how flexible seating can positively affect students in other classrooms, and I would love to be able to have these options in my fifth grade classroom next school year! I am hoping that these additional options allow my students more choice, more fun, and more enjoyment while learning.
