I have a classroom library nook that my students love to visit, where certain books that other students have read and would recommend to others are on display. I love seeing their excitement when new books appear on our shelves. I am implementing more independent reading time into my curriculum for students to read simply for enjoyment, as well as opportunities to talk about their books with their classmates through "book talks," book "speed-dating," and journaling/free-writing. My students will be so excited to see a more high-interest selection so they can choose a book that they can really connect with.
