So many teachers at my school are moving towards differentiated seating for their students and are raving about the difference it makes in the classroom. Engagement stools, sensory cushions, stability balls and standing stations are some different options that I see on just my hallway! Movement is linked to improved student focus and the engagements stools that I have chosen will allow students to wobble while learning. This movement while sitting can be helpful in maintaining classroom focus. The stools can also help to build up core muscles, improve posture and the rocking motion can help to calm students with special needs. Students need alternative seating choices in the classroom. As working adults, we often get up and move around the room freely. Students are not allowed that much freedom in the classroom but flexible seating options would give them the movement that we all need while working.
