My classroom abounds with love & joy each day! I teach 7 students with severe/profound special needs, ranging from ages 5-10 (kindergarten-fifth grade). I am so lucky to have older students to lead and help guide the younger students. I like to think of my classroom as one big family! Also in my classroom, I have three instructional assistants that help to keep our room in working order. One of my students has more severe medical needs, so he brings a personal nurse with him each day. We are able to have general education peers come to our classroom each week to mentor, read to, & play with my students. We are incredibly lucky to have such an inclusive school community! Our students have a multitude of diverse & intensive learning needs that require a vast amount of resources, ranging in skill levels and types of accessibility. These needs require individualized instruction & a lot of targeted resources to pull from.
