The Tagu magnetic blocks will allow the students to build creatively without experiencing the frustration of having their creation collapse. A student with a physical challenge will benefit from building with the blocks. A child with cerebral palsy will learn to squat to pick up a block and then stand and keep their balance to build. This is a fun way of practicing therapeutic skills. Students with autism will be stimulated by the soothing colors and smooth surface of the blocks. The beanbag learning center will encourage cooperation and turn taking while building gross motor coordination. Academics skills can also be reinforced by having the students name the shapes, numbers, letters, and colors on the beanbags. Playing with the Tagu blocks and the beanbag toss game will encourage the growth of social skills. Students will learn to share and build cooperatively. When playing the beanbag game students will learn to encourage and cheer on their classmates. Play does not come naturally to my Lifeskills students. They need to be taught to play just like they need to be taught to read. Having a variety of different of different materials makes learning to play more fun!
