My school is home to nearly 800 students, serving kindergarten through fifth grade. Our students love music, but unfortunately most of the funding goes to reading and math. All of our equipment gets used frequently, so any money we do get often goes to replacing the basics. For many of our students, music class is their favorite time of day. It is the one place where they can express themselves and be creative. Our community was hit especially hard by the economic recession and many families cannot afford musical opportunities for their children outside of school.
