A quality paintbrush can have a dramatic, positive affect on a student who is learning to paint. Right now our art room has an assortment of old brushes with broken handles and bent bristles. For a child who is in the process of developing fine motor skills, these frustrations can lead to setbacks in skill development. We need quality, durable brushes that will give students the tools they need to develop their fine motor skills while they engage in self-expression. When brush bristles glide evenly across the paper, students can focus on their color choices, composition, brushstrokes, and subject matter. Students will be able to practice mixing shades and tints to create value, transform cardboard and paper mâché into colorful sculptures, and work together to paint collaborative murals. Brush cleaners and holders for each of our three art room sinks will enable students to learn how to care for the brushes so they can last us for many years!
