My students need Chromebooks to help them develop academic success by giving them the tools they need to access the curriculum, and prepare them for the world they live in. Students with learning disabilities using technology simply have more options and tools to support their learning than those without. These Lenovo Chromebooks would help my students access content, stay organized, look up words, find alternate resources, search for answers to their own questions, voice type, and much more. Lenovo Chromebooks would enable students to take control of their learning and even pause, fast forward or rewind content to learn at their pace. With these Chromebooks, my students would not only have access to very helpful assistive technology tools, but they would also have access to the internet and the plethora of resources available. Technology has advanced to a point where many reading and writing accommodations are easily accessible with access to technology. Here are some examples of things these devices would allow my students to do: typing and word processing; speech to text; text to speech; word prediction; presentation tools; and typeable worksheets. The Chromebooks would not only provide assistive technology supports but also empower students to take control of their own learning. With devices in their hands, student-centered lesson design would be possible.
