By incorporating the market center into my class I will be able to introduce various themes in the dramatic play area that correspond with the themes which we study throughout the year. These themes coincide with the curriculum we use, that introduces engaging, age appropriate information such as: home life, transportation, travel, outer space, farm, plants, winter, etc... We expand our lessons through such areas as dramatic play using math, writing, letter/number recognization, and social skills. Students learn one to one correspondence, counting skills, and writing/reading skills through role play. Having children from different socioeconomical backgrounds in one class can make it challenging at times, because their experiences vary, and knowledge is so different. By making the physical appearance of the room attractive and engaging it encourages all children to feel comfortable, and all children at all levels to learn from one another. Children should be encouraged to explore different roles, careers, and topics to better prepare them for the future. By having the market center accessible, the ability to transform my room into different themes will be fun and creative. My ever so eager students will be able to flourish to their fullest potential.
