Studies show that flexible seating can enhance student learning. Allowing students the choice to identify the best learning environment is a skill that will promote advocacy in special needs students. Flexible seating allows for collaboration between peers and puts the teacher on a similar level to the students creating a more welcoming environment. The tall pub tables will allow our 6' tall students a more comfortable work environment. Setting up two of these tables will make it easy for students to collaborate rather than the traditional desk setting. We currently have two standing desks with fidget bars in our classroom which are a great way for students to release energy but don't offer additional space for another student to work cooperatively. The reclining game chairs will be positioned in our reading area which also is conveniently located near our SmartBoard. The lap desks will allow students to comfortably sit in the gaming chairs while still maintaining the ability to take notes.
