The fitness world is evolving and so is the way our kids are approaching physical fitness. Many kids do not go outside as much as they have in the past due to a variety of reasons. There was a time when kids would play outside and Physical Education was a supplement to their daily physical activity. Now for some kids, Physical Education is their only source of exercise they perform during the week. My project aims to diversify the exercises and fitness activities students are exposed to during Physical Education. By incorporating medicine balls workouts, box jumps, the use of resistance bands, and other cross-fit type activities, students will learn new and fun exercises. I believe that introducing or reintroducing the typical sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, and others is not sufficient to keep students engaged for lifelong fitness. I believe we as physical educators must introduce students to a wide variety of fitness activities that would sustain fitness into their adulthood.
