Our students opt to attend our rural charter school because our classes are smaller than the public schools. Most read below grade-level. They are full of potential and curiosity, but many have limited financial resources and do not come from homes that stress education. It saddens me to see that they own more digital games and gadgets than books. My goal is to tap into their imaginations and improve their opportunities for future success in society by getting them hooked on books. They actually get very excited about something as basic as having their own book to read with the class, and refer to at their leisure.

About my class
